At Bowen State School we aim to empower
all students to learn, to achieve their full potential. It is our priority to
develop, maintain and effectively implement high quality curriculum programs
for all students.
Current educational research has been used to inform
the teaching & learning and
our school is committed to developing teacher capability through professional
development focusing on aspects of curriculum implementation, pedagogy and assessment.
Our programs ensure the implementation of
relevant curriculum that has a clear focus on equipping students with the
essentials of literacy and numeracy knowledge and skills. The Australian and
Queensland curriculum documents are regularly examined to provide a broad and
balanced range of learning opportunities for our students.
The Bowen Way of teaching ensures
consistent implementation of key pedagogical practices to maximize student
learning outcomes. It is our philosophy that improvements in student learning
are dependent on ongoing improvements in pedagogy.
Teachers generate purposeful literacy
& numeracy data, track progress and measure individual student growth in
their learning. This data informs curriculum planning and resourcing decisions.
Our core values of being respectful, being
responsible, being safe and being a learner underpin a safe, friendly,
disciplined and supportive environment.
